Borges Machado is an experimental duo consisting of André Borges and Fernando Machado that explores improvisation and field recordings. Their debut album, Building Sites, released in the summer of 2020, features sound art pieces inspired by urban soundscapes, reflecting their approach of discovering and recording environments in the field, interacting with them, and building a dialogue through free improvisation.

The duo’s performances take an interdisciplinary approach, integrating visual arts, movement, and music to create immersive sensory experiences. They created the soundtrack for the multimedia performance Presence of Absence by Brazilian dancer and choreographer Branca Peixoto, performed at Central Saint Martins.

Borges Machado's music was also used as a soundtrack for The Day Our Green Disappeared, a play commissioned by Pop Up - Let's Do London 2021, created and performed by Alba Cabral e Carolina Cal.

In addition to stage performances, Borges Machado deliver concerts and workshops in care homes and both special and mainstream schools, organised by Live Music Now, bringing experimental and improvisatory music to diverse audiences.

Borges Machado continues to explore the boundaries of sound and improvisation, connecting field recordings, free improvisation, and interdisciplinary collaboration to create innovative musical experiences.
