Roda de Samba (Samba Circle) is a familiar sight in cities like Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo — and it has been thriving in Brighton, UK, for over 8 years!
Samba Roda Viva is a space for the Brazilian community as well as music lovers from all over the world to come together, celebrate, and share the joy of samba.
Our repertoire blends the classics of Chico Buarque and Adoniran Barbosa, with the gems of lesser-known sambistas such as Geraldo Filme and Toniquinho Batuqueiro, and contemporary composers including Kiko Dinucci, Douglas Germano, and original compositions by our very own Fernando Machado.
Over the years, we have hosted incredible evenings with special guests including Aleh Ferreira, Ines Loubet, Hannah Dunster, Luiz Morais (Alvorada), Lizzie Ogle (Baque Luar), George Foggel, Fabricio Azevedo, Tudo Bem, Samba do Chapéu, Tamanduá, Brighton School of Samba and many more.
